    Side Effects

    The most common side effect experienced with insulin is low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).

    Symptoms of hypoglycemia include hunger, sweating, pale skin, irritability, headache, shakiness, dizziness, poor concentration.

    Severe cases of hypoglycemia can lead to insulin ketoacidosis, disorientation, unconsciousness, seizures, and death.

    To avoid the effects of hypoglycemia, you should carry a glucose table, non-dietetic candy, or sugary drink—Monitor blood sugar levels.

    Heart failure can result if insulin is taken with thiazolidinediones (TZD’s)

    Notify your doctor if your symptoms get worse or you are experiencing symptoms such as shortness of breath, weight gain, or swelling of the ankles or feet.

    Side Effects

    Side effects related to insulin can happen. However, most side effects are rare; it’s essential to understand them and detect symptoms.

    Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) is the most common symptom, including hunger, headache, irritability, shortness of breath, rapid breathing, palpitations: shakiness, and cold sweats.

    If this happens, you will need to take the necessary action. This should include taking a glucose tablet, hard candy, or sugary drink to restore blood sugar levels. If this happens, let your doctor know as they may want to adjust your medication.

    In addition to hypoglycemia, this prefilled insulin pen has very few side effects.

    If you experience any allergy symptoms after injection, get medical help. Allergy symptoms may include skin rashes over the entire body, redness or swelling at the injection site, trouble breathing, tight chest, feeling like you may pass out, swelling of throat or tongue, hollowing or thickening of the skin at the injection site.

    Contact your doctor immediately if you have the symptoms such as fluid retention, weight gain, swelling of hands and feet, shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat, low potassium, cramps, numbness or tingling, increased urination, limp feeling, or muscle weakness.

    Side Effects

    This is not a complete guide to the side effects of Humulin N. Some of the side effects include low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), weight gain, swelling of hands and feet, mild skin rash and itching, hollowing of skin, or thickening at the site of injection.

    Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) is the most common side effect with insulin medication such as Humulin N. Symptoms of hypoglycemia include: headache, sweating, hunger, pale skin, irritability, dizziness, trouble concentrating, feeling shaky, seizure (convulsions), difficulty speaking, loss of consciousness, muscle weakness, numbness or tingling in the mouth, blurred vision and drowsiness.

    To avoid experiencing these symptoms, carry a piece of non-diabetic candy, glucose tablet, or sugary drink (not diet) if your blood sugar levels drop.

    If you experience any of the following symptoms, seek medical attention immediately allergic reaction over the entire body, trouble breathing, feeling you might pass out, swelling of tongue and throat, low potassium (hyperkalemia), swelling in hands and feet, and fluid retention.

    Side Effects

    Symptoms associated with using insulin can differ depending on a patient’s health, treatment, and condition.

    Most people do not experience side effects with insulin treatment. If you do experience side effects that worsen and persist, contact your doctor immediately, especially if you see signs of low potassium levels in the blood, irregular heartbeats, cramps, and weakness.

    Injection site reactions may occur. This can include redness, irritation, and pain at injection sites.

    Insulin can cause low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), showing symptoms of cold sweats, shaking, hunger, blurred vision, increased heartbeat, dizziness, or tingling feet/hands.

    You are carrying a diabetic candy, glucose tablets, or a sugary drink (non-diet) in case of hypoglycemic side effects. To prevent hypoglycemia from occurring, be sure to eat meals regularly and do not skip meals. Consult your doctor for instruction in the event you miss a meal.

    Hyperglycemia is another side effect that also may occur. Symptoms include increased thirst, increased urination, flushing, rapid breathing, drowsiness, confusion, and fruity breath. Speak with your doctor if you experience symptoms, as your dosage may need to be adjusted.

    Severe allergic reactions when taking insulin are rare. If you experience itching/swelling, body rash, trouble breathing, or dizziness, seek medical attention immediately.
