How often do you Inject Levemir?

Levemir is typically administered once daily. When used as part of a basal-bolus insulin regimen, Levemir is administered twice daily depending on the patient’s individual needs.

For patients who require two daily doses, you can administer the second dose in the evening or at bedtime to optimize blood sugar control.

  • Novolin GE 30/70 Penfill Cartridges (100 Units/mL)

    $104.00$360.00

    Usage

Novolin GE 30/70 PenFill Cartridges are used to control high blood sugar levels in patients with insulin-dependent diabetes. Together, the fast-acting Regular insulin and the intermediate-acting NPH insulin give you full-day insulin control of your blood sugar. The PenFill Cartridges are for use in your reusable insulin pen for more convenient delivery.

Novolin GE 30/70 comes as a cloudy or milky suspension because it contains added protamine and zinc. The insulin (the cloudy or milky material) can settle at the bottom of the cartridge, therefore it must be shaken up and down so that the contents are uniformly mixed before you give yourself a dose. Insulin Novolin GE 30/70 PenFills come in a 3 mL cartridge for use with your reusable insulin pen.

NovoLog (NovoRapid) insulin will begin to lower glucose levels 10-20 minutes after injection. It has a maximum effect between 1-3 hours and can last for up to 3-5 hours.

Since this preparation is short-acting, it is usually used in combination with intermediate-acting or long-acting insulin.

  • NovoLog Vials (NovoRapid Vials)

    $79.99

    Allergic Reactions

As with any insulin therapy, injection site reactions may occur and include pain, redness, itching, hives, swelling, bruising, and inflammation. Continuous rotation of the injection site within a given area reduces the risk of developing these reactions. Reactions usually resolve in a few days to a few weeks. On rare occasions, injection site reactions may require discontinuation of NovoLog (NovoRapid). Localized reactions and generalized myalgias have been reported with injected metacresol, an excipient in NovoLog (NovoRapid).

Systemic allergic reactions have not been reported during the clinical development of NovoLog (NovoRapid). Systemic allergic reactions have rarely occurred with NovoLog (NovoRapid) as with other insulin treatments. These reactions may be characterized by a generalized rash (with pruritus), shortness of breath, wheezing, and a drop in blood pressure. Severe cases of generalized allergy, including anaphylactic reaction, may be life-threatening.

  • Tresiba FlexTouch Pens 100 Units

    $149.99$2,383.96

    Using Tresiba Flextouch

Before injecting insulin, make sure you are using the correct medication.

Review all patients’ information and guides available that your pharmacist provides to familiarize yourself with your prescription.

Inspect your insulin does not have particles or discoloration before use. If either is present, do not use it. Insulin should appear clear and colorless.

Before administering Tresiba, clean the area for injection with a cotton swab and alcohol.

Rotate injection sites to avoid developing problems such as lipodystrophy.

Tresiba can be injected in the upper thigh, upper arm, or stomach area. Do not inject into a muscle or vein as this may cause hypoglycemia.

Do not inject into skin that is swollen, red, or itchy.

Do not mix with other insulin or use an infusion pump.

  • Tresiba FlexTouch Pens 200 Units / mL

    $179.99

    Usage

Tresiba is injected subcutaneously (under the skin) once daily, at any time of the day.

Adult patients who notice they’ve missed a dose should inject their daily dose during waking hours then continue their regular dosing schedule.

For pediatric patients, Tresiba should be taken at the same time daily. If they miss a dose, they should contact their doctor and monitor blood sugar levels closely until their next dose.

Adult patients should ensure that at least 8 hours have elapsed between consecutive injections. Dose increases should be made within 3-4 days from the last injection.

It’s important to note that Tresiba contains less than one mmol sodium (23 mg) per dose which means it’s essentially sodium-free.
